I briefly considered just making a post that said "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH" but then I decided that would be kind of annoying and a dick move considering how boring my LJ has been lately and so instead you get three talking points.

1. Patrick Stump wants to talk about the heatwave in my pants. OKAY, PATRICK. I THINK THIS IS A TOPIC WORTHY OF EXPLORATION. *_____*

2. The lyrics on this song are exactly the kind of viscerally vivid emotional wordplay that I think Pete is best at. This is why I admire his writing - not for technical finesse, but for stuff that reaches right down inside you and punches a button. I already know there are dark angry arrogant moods when I will want to listen to this song on repeat. I love that.

3. This is totally a song that will make Patrick get all stompy like a tiny dinosaur when they play it live. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

This sentence fills me with glee.

I just -- the other thing I love is all the influences they've packed in there! Like, oh hey, Elvis. Oh hey, AC/DC. Oh hey, hai thar, MJ. It's like we're listening to their favorite playlist, and I am both surprised and impressed with how much I love that.

And then there's Patrick's voice, and the phrasing, and the words that make the phrases, and then there's totally being able to imagine it live. Joe having THE BEST TIME EVER. Andy slamming his sticks! Patrick stomping like the little stompy dinosaur he totally is! Pete dropping the bass for clapping and being the answer to Patrick's call and answer! I just! Hurray, they surprised and impressed me, YAY THEM.

Not that I like the song or anything. *G*

Oh man, I did not even notice that. I am going to have to listen 25 more times right now MY LIFE SO HARD

yes yes yesssss all of this. The phrasing is AWESOME. I'm always impressed at how well they shape their art to fit each other; Pete's meter, Patrick's emphasis. Sometimes it can get forced, because that is HARD, but not heeeeere. ♥ GOD I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT FOR THE NEXT LIVE SHOW AAGHHH

lolololol I know, honey, I know. *plays it cool*

I WANT STOMPY DINOSAUR PATRICK MORE THAN MY NEXT BREATH, HANNAH. GET HIM FOR ME.

stuff that reaches right down inside you and punches a button

I feel exactly the same way. People can say whatever they want about Pete's lyrics, but for me, they just hit me right in the gut.

IT IS TIMES LIKE THIS WHEN I TRULY UNDERSTAND THE NEED TO WRAP ONESELF AROUND HIM LIKE A PARASITIC SEA CREATURE AND NEVER LET GOOOOOOOOO

God, inorite? He's so goddamn good at making you feel what he wants you to feel, there's no distance between his lyrics and the emotional response they evoke. UGH I LOVE THEMMMM

As much as I hate to be That Kid who talks about how Pete's lyrics speak to her, no, really.....actually, no, I've accepted that at this point I am completely hopelessly in love with everything Pete does.

THEY NEED TO DO A US TOUR SO I CAN FOLLOW THEM AROUND.

I can't say coherently how much I agree with you right now but so far I have a playcount of 41 for "I Don't Care" so that might give you an idea :D

I agree with all parts of this.

I had to re-import all my music at the begining of May, and all my playcounts were reset at that point. That was four months ago. And now, "I Don't Care" is my highest playcount.
