So I bought all this Lush crap, and I am revisiting that special Lush feeling I get every time I break the bank and buy something of theirs: namely, an overwhelming sense of guilt every time a piece accidentally crumbles off the soap bar or I drop some foam down the drain. Ahhhhh, expensive crap, I was not meant for you.
On the plus side, it really does kind of WORK. My hair no longer feels greasy and stiff from the hard water in my shower! And Angels on Bare Skin really is a LOT better for my face than my old St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I've been using it for three days, and today I feel like, and I think you know what I mean when I say this, I feel like when I touch my face I'm touching parts of my body I should not be touching in public.
And now for that recurring section, Today In Pete Wentz! I don't speak French, but I've been assured by at least three French speakers that the accent on the cover of Folie a Deux is on the wrong way. To quote
swanswan, "à à à à à à à à not á!!!! THE SHORTCUT ON YOUR PUTER IS CTRL + ` then A!!!!" OH MY GOD, THIS IS GOING TO BUG ME A LOT. They better fix that shit before it goes to press or I will - I don't know, but I'll be MAD. >:(
The first issue of Transformative Works and Cultures was published today. I don't talk about it a lot these days, but this kind of academic work on fandom by fans is still fascinating to me. I support the Organization for Transformative Works, and yet I think this publication is interesting no matter what you think of OTW. It's peer-reviewed and polished and readable, and while I haven't gotten to all of the articles yet, I think Francesca Coppa's piece on vidding should be required fannish reading. It's so fucking interesting, seriously, READ IT. I have wanted an academic journal like this for years, and I am just endlessly psyched to see where it goes next.

godpete is watching! I thought they'd totally have figured it out by now but the Fresh Only Bakery vans are decorated with the crappy fake accent tooooo. Every time I look at it I wince. OH PETERRRR. Pls do not commission ridiculous huge paintings of it for your house!(no subject)

*is bad fangrrl of French*
I proofed this issue of the TWC. I'm looking forward to hearing what people think of it. (And I hope Ces writes more on vidding. That way lies a lot of really, really interesting shit.)

Oh my god, I am FASCINATED. I seriously could not put it down. Of course I knew in vague terms about VCR vidding and Kandy Fong but about 80% of that was new information for me, and so interestingly contextualized by Ces. So cool!
AND I DID NOT SEE A SINGLE MISTAKE, BTW. ♥

And maybe the misaligned accent Means Something Significant. (What? It could happen? I do not even need to tell YOU this, eh?)
I'd never heard of Kandy Fong, so that part was a lot of fun - and good God, who knew Leonard Nimoy could actually carry a tune?
The lack of mistakes can be put down primarily to the editor/copyeditors/layout folks, between which functions there was significant (though not exclusive) Venn-diagram overlap. I had stuff to fix - and believe me, I'd have fixed more if I hadn't been treading carefully on the authors' text this first time out (I am a copyeditor by former trade and I might be a WEE BIT OPINIONATED about how things Really Should Be) - but on balance I had very little to do, because the folks who saw all this before me did their jobs so well.

HAHAHAHAHA. Well, I guess stranger things have happened than Pete making fancy French wordplay.
...I did. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFR-8NVjw-k)
I'm so impressed by everyone involved, from the top down. Not surprised, though! Definitely a classy operation.

hahahahhaha, that's totally what it's like for me, too. The buttercreams get SO LITTLE and then you drop them all the time and each time I was scared that I'd lost it down the drain and WHAT HAD I DONE?!?

You. Um. Have a very special face. Or very sticky water. I'm just sayin'.

To get annoyed would mean I would have to express an emotion which can't be illustrated by hearts in my eyes.
And thanks for the link to the TWC. Who needs sleep when I can read that?

And, ooh, I forgot that [the journal!] was due soon, and... yikes, I am meant to go to bed before midnight tonight. Er. *shifty* (Thank you for the reminder!)
