Oh god, flist, oh god. The Cough is back.

Every couple of years, I get this godawful dry violent persistent Cough that lasts for around two months. It's often triggered by something like smoke or another irritant, but once it gets going, it just doesn't quit. I have no idea what the trigger was this time, but I'm guessing something pollen-y. The official medical word is that it's some kind of asthma-spectrum thingy, or reactive airway disease. I have an inhaler, but it basically does nothing. I have to wait it out.

Primarily it's just EXHAUSTING. My abs hurt and my throat hurts and I'm embarrassed in classes. Thank God I don't share a bedroom with anyone, because it sure as hell doesn't let anyone within ten yards sleep, including me.

This is the last fucking thing I need.

I am pretty sure the cure for that is a resort in Switzerland. Pretty sure on that.

Romance novels don't lie. I believe Hannah is required to wear a shawl, and say "Terribly sorry dear. Do tell the children I'll be home soon?" and then step into a stagecoach, never to be seen again.

I'm sure you've tried everything, but just in case, unsolicited medical advice ahead: would your student health center hook you up with some cough syrup with codeine or something? At least to keep the cough down at night to help you sleep. If you have shortness of breath along with the cough, narcotics are not a good idea, but if not, they're the most effective suppressant for dry cough. Also, any cough drop (or hard candy even) with glycerin might help a little during class and coat your throat a bit. Hope you feel better soon, I've had something similar and it's a horrible feeling.

Oh, hey, that's something to try! I normally give up on cough syrup, but something not OTC might work better. And I should stock up on cough drops. Thanks for the advice!

Well, at least I'm safe from THAT. My case was the worst my doctor had ever seen in a two year old!
