Oh man, I know what you mean. I've gotten to the point of completely backbuttoning on a certain "There was once a king with beautiful golden hair" kind of syrupy bullshit. But I mean, in a way I feel like ours was the weirder stuff in terms of the larger ~tradition? so it's pretty easy for me to slip back into that style of writing, easier than it was for me to get used to the myriad weirdnesses of bandom. There is no ground-breakingly new territory in Merlin.

(ahahahaha, but to be fair, dude, do you want me to give you counter-examples of such awfulness from bandom? BECAUSE I WILL.) (Although I know and hated the fic to which you refer.)

I haven't bothered picking up the full album but I keep meaning to. I loooved Love Lockdown, so idky I didn't get on the bandwagon back then.

Oh ino bandom had a huge amount of bs shitty fic. It's not like it was some sort of fandom Holy Grail where there was nothing but amazing fic as far as the eye could see.

There's this one song called Welcome to Heartbreak that's all about how lonely he feels, now that he's so rich and famous and awesome. And on the one hand, it's sad how alone and isolated he feels but on the other LOL KANYE. Tell me moar about how hard your life is, being incredibly rich and famous doing what you love and also, I can't help but think that one of the reasons he might feel isolated is because yk, he's Kanye and full of himself. (Don't take any of this to mean I don't love Kanye West, because I do, like an unhealthy amount. I have txt convos w/ Rio all the time about whether Kanye is okay and whatnot)

oh Kanyeeee. I fucking love him. The thing about Kanye West, and I mean, this is about the greatest compliment I could give a human being, the thing about Kanye is that if I were to make up a fictional character for Pete Wentz to fanboy, he would be that character.

I THOUGHT I COULD FINISH THIS COMMENT WITHOUT MAKING REFERENCE TO HIS NEED TO BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH HIM NOT TELLING EVERYONE HOW DOPE HE THINKS HE IS, BUT THAT TURNS OUT TO HAVE BEEN OVERLY OPTIMISTIC.

Rio was like, liveblogging the South Park episode w/ Kanye to me. And she was LOLing when the Kanye character said "I am the voice of a generation!" and then we were like "dude, if Kanye hasn't actually said that, it's only a matter of time before he does."

Because being Kanye West means even the ridiculous things a parody of you says are incredibly likely to trufax be your internal feelings.
