an anecdote

So I'm hanging with my friends last night, and we're talking about Facebook groups. One of them brings up a group I'm a member of: "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night Because the Sun Never Sets on Being Badass".

Awesome, right?

But then my other friend starts talking, and he's like, "Wouldn't it be cool if it were, like, Colonial times, but they had sunglasses – stick with me, guys (a side note: we were totally not sticking with him) – and some dude came up to some other dude who was wearing sunglasses, and it was night, and he was like, 'Why are you wearing sunglasses? It's night!' And the other guy was like 'I wear my sunglasses at night because the sun never sets on the British Empire.'"

It's like some interesting, but ultimately useless, talent. Like being able to play a guitar with your feet. Or some less stupid example.

Also, I have "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" stuck in my head. I'm going to blame you.

And yeah. o_o Exactly-- like it should've been an obvious connection, yet nobody else would ever have thought of it...
