So I slept over at a friend's house last night, and we watched the first four or five episodes of Grey's Anatomy, and this is all I have to say about it: OMG GEORGE ♥ ♥ ♥ Also, I love me some Sandra Oh. I've only been watching So You Think You Can Dance for the past two episodes, but I still wanted Travis to win. But they're all cute! But I wanted Travis to win. *sigh* I mean, how could I not?

There has been WAY too much fic posted lately by awesome authors that happens to be in fandoms I am not in the mood for! Like all the Midsummer fics! WHAT IS THAT. I just keep opening them all in tabs, and then I go off and read another horrible H/D epic in which the characters act like no human beings I've ever met or hope to meet. I feel that Harry Potter is my fandom of shame. I don't honestly love the canon that much, I really don't love the fandom that much, and I don't always love the fic that much. I mean, on the plus side, if you've got a kink? I *promise* you an HP author has written it. On the negative side, though, you've got terrible writing and a snowstorm of wank. It's a give and take.

No, I kid. I kid because I love. There is good writing in Harry Potter fandom! I do believe in it, I do, I do! But let's face it, it's no [insert name of any other currently active fandom here]. I think there are two things that really get to me about HP fic: first, that the characters act like SOCIOPATHS ALL THE TIME in the name of shippiness and/or hot sex. I mean. Other fandoms do it, but seriously? HP is a repeat offender. And the second thing is that there is no other fandom I can think of where characterization is so completely off the charts wacko. I mean, Draco gets the worst of this, granted, and that's partly because JKR didn't do much with him for the first five books; but even post-HBP, I am constantly amazed by how incredibly few people actually seem to make an effort to extrapolate a Draco that works from canon. That's mostly what I was trying to do with my eternally unfinished WIP, but it's honestly hard to get excited about writing HP fic when I have so many other shiny fandoms that I don't have Big Fat Issues with. I'll probably finish it anyway, but still. Jeez.

And THAT turned into a big old rant! Sorry guys, I didn't know I had all that pent-up anger. It is, of course, in some measure all bullshit, because I still read and enjoy HP fic all the time. And I didn't mean you! I love you! Don't run from me, flist!

Guess what tonight is, my lovelies? That's right: SNAKES ON A MOTHERFUCKING PLANE. Bitches. I'm going to see it with my friends, before they all go away to school and leave me to pine in Jersey for another frickin' MONTH. Whatever, My School. What. EVER.
