So, I thought the number one person who could call me on it if I faked my own death was [livejournal.com profile] custardpringle, since she lives in my building. But then I mentioned this to her, and she brought up the fact that I sleep all day, every day, and she hasn't actually SEEN me in two weeks, and she wouldn't actually KNOW if I died. Still, I think the school would notify people, wouldn't it? Maybe? There'd be an email or something, surely.

I'm a bit late posting this, I suppose, but I don't at all object to stuff arriving after Christmas. Then you're expecting it even less, so it's even more fun! Yay holidays!

The Rules:

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My Wishlist

1. Cards! Any kind of cards; holiday, postcard, anything you have sitting around. My address is here (locked post). If you're not on my flist, and would like my address, just email me privately at my LJ account, or comment here anonymously, or whatever floats your boat.

2. Fic. I think we all know my taste by now, and that taste is GIRL. Happy, silly, romances, with misunderstandings and jealousy and a happy ending. I'm not asking that you write me fic, although that would be LOVELY; mostly, I'm asking for recs and links.

3. Look, I'm sorry, but I really badly want well-written mpreg. I'm sorry! It's true. People I especially want pregnant include Ray Kowalski, Jared Padalecki, Dan Jarvis (OMG, picture Duck's reaction. He would be thrilled. He would probably touch Dan's belly really tenderly with both hands), Napoleon Solo, and Dan Rydell.

4. Phone calls, oh, wow, phone calls. I would LOVE to talk to some fangirls this holiday season (after December 9th, when finals end.) My phone number is in the same post as my address.

5. Sparkly lip gloss I hesitate to link to it at all, because... bad associations, but if you are feeling especially kind, you could take a glance at my Amazon Wish List.

6. More paid account time would be fantastic.

7. A largish pretty poster or wall hanging for the bare wall in my dorm room. It's right across from my bed, and it's very white and very depressing.

8. Old paperbacks you like, but don't have room for anymore. Especially, uhm, romance novels? A great opportunity to clean out your bookcase! I'll read just about anything.

9. Oh my God, an icon or picture of Fraser with his TATTOO. Jesus. Is there even a screencap out there of Fraser's lower back? I don't know. Whatever! This is my WISH list, not my REALITY list.

10. Printed fic, especially zines. [livejournal.com profile] shoemaster has one, and I wants it. Perfect for the plane ride back to school after Christmas break!

Spread the Cheer!

Isn't it WONDERFUL? Hee! It would be a little baby GIRL, and so tiny when she was just born that Duck would be scared to hold her. mwa ha ha ha

Oh yes, everyone in Wilby has finally gotten over the fact that they're a publicly gay couple, thought Irene stillwrinkles her nose when they come into Iggy's, like being gay makes them smell different. (Well, the sex part can be a bit smelly but they do shower) And then Dan starts not feeling so hot, and Duck is talking with Sandra about it and she makes an off hand comment about "Sounds like how I felt when I was pregnant" and they laugh it off. A few weeks later Dan goes to a doctor off island, because if he does have some freak medical condition, he figures it has at least a chance (small chance, but a chance) of staying a secret. And then he's pregnant and he's freaking out about how to tell Duck.

But then, yeah, Duck is thrilled! And he likes to rest his head on Dan's belly, listening for the heart beat. And I think they have a little girl, and Duck is just the best daddy ever and Dan is a bit of a worrier, but she adores them both because they're her dads.

(...really long way of saying I so agree with you. Also on the Ray and Jared front, too)

And I can probably hook you up on the Romance Novel front.

And, uh... Image

I adore the Duck/Emily relationship dynamic whatever it is. It's just so full of <3

And we've only got about 50 Million in this house, any genres you like, specifically? (Contemporary, Old School England with "the ton", Scotland etc.)

:D I only wish I had had a better cap to start from, but yanno.

EEEK THE TON. Those ones are my favorites! I also like Scottish ones, especially if they have feisty red-haired lasses. And contemporary CAN be good, but it tends to be less ridiculous and therefore less fun. In conclusion: if you send it, I will read it. YAYS.

Uhm, about the romance novels, there are a couple of authors who you should DEFINITELY send along if you happen to have them: Jenny Crusie, Julia Quinn, and Eloisa James. Just, you know, if you see those names.

Definitely have Julia Quinn, will check on the others. Whyfor did you not answer the phone? *life is hard*

oh, babes - do you have your own copy of Welcome to Temptation? because I have this thing where I see Good Books on the bargain table and even if I already own them I have to RESCUE THEM FROM THE REMAINDERS and, uh, yeah, I have a second copy. Which is so yours if you so require. *hearts Jenifer Crusie oh so very much, not least because there's always a matter-of-factly cute gay couple in there somewhere*

...Aaaaaaand now I want pregnant!RayK to meet pregnant!Dan and they can bitch about it, while Fraser and Duck compare notes and plans. *siiigh*

See, I can't picture Dan bitchy at ALL under normal circumstances, and I certainly can't picture him being bitchy to Duck because who would do that, but Ray Kowalski? Could bring out the bitch in ANYONE. And Fraser and Duck would be so dedicated. Fraser would tell Duck about healthy Inuit baby food, and Duck would paint both babies' rooms.

posted by [identity profile] shoemaster.livejournal.com at 01:42am on 04/12/2006
Oh my god, the kids would have the awesomest rooms in all of Canada! And I meant bitch about things like having to pee all the time, back aches etc. Ray would bitch first, for sure, then Dan would sort of be like "You are SO RIGHT. Finally, someone who understands!" Because seriously, guys don't have the hips for it.

And Duck and Fraser would be making them eat ALL THE TIME because they're both so SKINNY.

They would have, like, MATCHING HAND CARVED OAK FURNITURE SETS. And a ridiculous assortment of children's literature. Ray and Dan would complain to each other and then fall asleep on the front porch swing, and Duck and Fraser would come in from the woodshop all sweaty, covered in sawdust, and stop when they saw their husbands sleeping. Duck gently brushes Dan's hair off his forehead, crouching next to him. Fraser just looks at Ray like his whole world is right here, in this house, on this porch, during this long warm Canadian summer.

*heart EXPLODES*

And then, at night, when they go to bed, Fraser spoons up behind Ray and rests his hands on his belly, telling them stories until Ray falls asleep, but Fraser can still feel his little girl moving around, so keeps talking and rubbing soft circles until she falls asleep, too.

WHY doesn't everyone love mpreg, Allison? WHY? Are they just CRUEL, HEARTLESS SOULS?

posted by [identity profile] shoemaster.livejournal.com at 02:27am on 04/12/2006
I DON'T KNOW, HANNAH. MAYBE THEIR HEARTS ARE JUST FROZEN SOLID AND EVEN THE ADORABLENESS OF MPREG CAN'T MELT IT.

I have an extra copy of Neverwhere, if you'd like! Also, if you like romance books and you haven't read The Blue Castle, I will seriously go out and BUY IT for you, because you need to read it yesterday.

The only reason allison has a zine is because I'm awesome like that (and she is sharing it right? *g*).

I have a Sentinel Zine if you still read the sentinel? Crossroads from... 2000? 270 pages of fic. *g*

If you wanna know what fics are in it, just ask :-p
