16 Military Wives by The Decemberists. I like this song a lot, and I like the video just as much.

Prelude 12/21 by AFI. This is that song from a recent Smallville episode where Lex walks down a hallway and is all hot. Yum.

Brimful of Asha by Cornershop. My baby niece is named Asha, but it's pronounced ahhh-sha, not aaa-sha. This song is not about her, to the best of my knowledge. It is actually about Asha Bhosle.

Area Codes by Ludacris. This song is so awesome, mostly because it is full of puns about hos. Oh, Ludacris, never change. ♥

One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces by Ben Folds Five. This is a midget revenge anthem.

The Death of Ferdinand De Saussure by The Magnetic Fields. Shout out to all my linguists! Holla back? The Magnetic Fields are my favorite band ever ever.

When My Boy Walks Down the Street and Time Enough for Rocking When We're Old, also by The Magnetic Fields. Extra bonus because I heart this band so hard. Catchy interesting pop tunes with clever lyrics and gender commentary FOR THE WIN.

Sadie Hawkins Dance by Relient K. I think the reason I like this song so very much is how self-confident the protagonist is. He is just TOTALLY STOKED for the Sadie Hawkins dance! This song makes me dance around and go "oh oh oh!"

S.O.S.by Rihanna. Oh my God, I love pop music.

ETA: All files should be fixed now. Comment if you're still having problems.

ETA2: OMGF. [livejournal.com profile] estrella30 just posted the platonic ideal of J2 RPS: Merrily On High. It's an AU, so I seriously don't care if you read this fandom, just – go, find pictures of Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, and then READ. oh em gee. *happy squirm*

Oh no! I just went to download these, and most of them are protected (m4p) files from the iTunes store.

I'll check out the others, though. Thanks!

Oh, aargh! I fail at computers! Um, I have no idea how to get around that, but I'm sure it's on the internet somewhere? I'll try and figure it out and reupload. That'll teach me to acquire music legally, amiright

There are solutions out there if you're on Windows, but not if you're on a Mac. (And that's about the size of it, yeah. I have illegally downloaded music that I would have just bought if there weren't DRM restrictions.)

(Though there is always the burn-rerip approach.)

I would like to protest, because all your Magnetic Fields songs are .m4p. :(

oh, gross! Um, let me try and figure out a way around that and get back to you?

The only/easy way I know of is to do as cobwebs suggested and burn a CD, then rerip them as .MP3's. Silly iTunes.

SAUSSURE.

Oh God, how much did I hate "Intro to Syntax & Morphology". It was really awful. Less so because of Saussure and more so because my lecturer sucked.

This was brought to you by "OMG I'm going to have to apply for the M.Sc. programme in FEBRUARY *wants to hide and never come out*" panic attack that's been keeping ahold of me since the beginning of Decembre and will continue to hassle me until I'll have, y'know, actually applied. I'm just ignoring the fact that I have to do my software project and my thesis in the next few months.

Dude, Saussure is so much death that he goes around the corner and becomes hilarious. (Although I will almost cease to feel this way when I'm studying him for an actual grade.) But... signs and signifiers? Could he literally have picked a more confusing set of words? I think Saussure is the densest reading I have ever done in my life, and I've read Heidegger.

Also, good luck!

I love "Brimful of Asha"! *hearts* And I plan to dl these when I get home!

(Also, I see the comments about the songs being protected. It's a pain in the ass, but it should work if you burn the stuff and then rip it. If there's another way around it, I'd love to know about it!)

Ah! I'll try and do that, then. (Although my laptop's cd burner has been on the fritz...) Thanks!

I love 16 Military Wives so much, but I'd never seen the video! Too cool. Thanks for the link, and for all of this. :D
