Oh, I keep forgetting to link to this. Hilarious Y/MFY/Hey there, Ryan Ross?

I know! Why don't I share an unpopular fannish opinion? Here it is.

I don't care if you leave feedback on my fic. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled when you do, it completely makes my day! But if you add it to your del.icio.us, and I find it weeks later, and you didn't leave feedback? I am going to be so fucking psyched that you liked it. If you recommend it somewhere, and don't leave feedback, and I find the rec somehow, I am going to be over the moon. If you follow someone's recommendation and comment positively on that post but not my fic, I will grin like an idiot if I see your comment. I don't care if you meet me in person years from now and I find out you thought my fic was okay, even though you never expressed the opinion anywhere in public. I will be overjoyed that you didn't stop reading halfway through.

I realize a lot of people don't feel this way, so don't extrapolate from this to others, but for me personally? If you like something I've done, I'm a happy camper. Telling me about it is wonderful, but it's not a requirement. So to all the lurkers out there: hey, thank you. It means a lot that you bother to listen to what I have to say. I'm grateful.

And another thing, fandom! [livejournal.com profile] bandomsecrets is such an opportunity for lolz. Why must everyone use it to air stupid grudges? I mean, do what you want, but this is about four hundred times more amazing to me than your hate-on for whoever you don't like. I am just saying. Ughhhh.

OH MY GOD ALSO. Alllso. [livejournal.com profile] bandom_recs is going so awesomely!! I have adored and been surprised by every single post so far and it hasn't even been a whole week. I am just completely psyched about this, flist. I love it when people talk about what they love. Oh, hearts. ♥♥

I totally agree with the feedback thing. Comments are fun! I like them! But I also like seeing recs, or seeing bookmarks on del.icio.us for my stuff, regardless of whether the people have commented. I just like knowing that some people don't think I'm writing crap! \o/

!!! I love your unpopular opinion, because I totally share it! On both sides of the equation! Like, if I bookmark something in del.icio.us, it's because I finished reading it, and, honestly, there's a lot of fic out there that I can't finish reading, so that in itself is something I take as a compliment. If someone can just get to the end of one of my fics I'm already hugely impressed.

My favorite part of that Rossy comment is the "really sorry to disappoint you all." Because who, exactly, would be disappointed by this knowledge? CERTAINLY NOT I.

I totally agree with you on feedback, bb! In fact I think I like recs and delicious tags MORE, because on delicious people put what they really think so it's good for LOLs as well as happyfacing :D

That makes me feel better about not leaving feedback. I try really hard to come up with clever, interesting comments or detailed and useful critiques, but I'm not as good at it as other people. And I don't like leaving those two-word 'awesome fic!' comments because I see people complain about them all the time. It's like, sorry, but if I was creative with words, I'd be writing my own fic. But I do try to show my appreciation by reccing fics in my LJ on occasion, and bookmarking on delicious.
