I am in Maine! It is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. We are staying on Penobscot Bay, in this old house that has seven bedrooms and a huge wraparound porch. My baby niece remains the cutest thing of my LIFE, and my brother and sister-in-law are lots of fun to hang out with. A. (the niece) is absolutely adorable; she's about to turn one, and she's staggering all around the house with that off-balance baby walk. At the moment, I am pirating wireless from somewhere nearby; I seem to have 0-1 bars in this bedroom, so unless I find a place with better reception, my access will be sporadic at best. Driving up here kind of made me want to die, since it was about 11 hours of just driving, plus we stopped for dinner and lunch. UGH. Still, now I'm here, and I'm remembering how much I love Maine. All the fantastic views, the old houses, the greenery, the mosquitoes, the seals that swim up to the shore where we're staying. For once, my lighthouse icon is actually appropriate!

Seals! Ocean! Pirated wireless! Seriously, though, it sounds marvellous... I've read quite a lot of random books set around that area and it always sounded absolutely beautiful - so it's neat for me to see someone actually be there and all excited about it.

So, er, in a less weird-sounding way, yay and thanks for sharing! :D

I am never quite sure whether people actually want to hear about stuff like this (i.e. stuff that isn't fannish), so I'm super glad you commented! It really IS just like it's described in books, too.
