If anyone has managed to resist the forty thousand recs for
heresluck's new vid, In the Mirror, consider this your official notification that you are an idiot. I actually do that, you know – resist reading a book because all my friends tell me how great it is – so I know whereof I speak. Stop doing that. It's dumb.
I can't decide whether to go to the supermarket or not. On the one hand, tomatoes and mozzarella and orange juice and ice cream are all things that I need. On the other hand, I would have to put on pants. These are the dilemmas of my rockstar lifestyle.
Back to the vid, though. I'm caught up in it so much today, the lyrics as much as the visuals (being the compulsively verbal bitch that I am). I have semi deep thoughts about this, especially in conjunction with her earlier, Fraser-centric vid, Out Here, but I have a feeling they've all been said in more interesting ways by other people; stuff about RayK in motion and Fraser's gravity, Fraser's ability to be alone in a city full of people and Ray's inability to separate himself out from other people.
What I'm more interested in right now, though, is one line from the song. (Um, go watch the vid first, because I don't know if you can spoil a vid with lyrics, but if you can, I don't want to.) Specifically, the bit that goes,
In my dreams I love you like
A snowstorm in the night
The window's open wide
Here comes reflected light.
What an image! Love that arrives while you're asleep, bright and overwhelming, transformative, turning everything new as it drifts quietly through the window you forgot to close... The song takes issue with dreams in the next few lines, but I'm still left with that picture, and of course with Ray Kowalski, trying so hard, loving so fiercely. His love for Fraser is like a gift, so spontaneous and right, and yet so full of friction, so close to failure every step of the way. When they finally make it through, I think it's almost despite themselves.

And wow the 'windows open wide' at 2:00 make me kind of swoon.
Hi, I've watched this vid like 10 times already including once or twice on my iPod. I need more Ray icons.

cont from he's lost but he keeps trying. He's sorting all of this stuff out but he just KNOWS that he has to keep Fraser with him and he needs to stick by Fraser. There is no clip of them walking away after the punch from MotB it goes straight to them coming back together with Fraser's story. When Ray takes some weird excuse to keep working with him.
(and why have I never noticed the wink at 0:33? Or the bit with the basketball at the very beginning?)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried to convert. S&H works fine. DS, only one F/V one, I think. *checking* They *say* they've converted to MPEG-4, but the picture runs without the sound. I have all my codecs up to date. *stumped* So please...share, and I'll see if your conversion worked better. THANK YOU!

You = my favourite rockstar ever! XP (what, did you not have class today? or were those pants just so stifling that the second you got home you just had to tear them off? Poor pants, I can see them now, looking dejected in a crumpled pile on your floor. They just want to be loved!)
Yay for videos! This is my favourite thing about TV versus book fandoms. The vids.
You evil mastermind! You've gotten me fully addicted! I'll have you know that I spent the weekend meaning to do hard, backbreaking, serious work on my bio paper, and what did I do instead? I read about Fraser and RayK fucking like bunnies, that's what I did!
And I may have rewatched S3 a few times to get a good look at the pretty and reinforce Ray's voice in my head. (I'm finding the more time I spend with the character, the more I am head-over-heels in love with his voice!)
So now we have to set a very special S4 playdate so that when I see more vids I'm not helplessly going "Wait! What ep was that in?" and when fics refer to certain things in canon I don't helplessly wonder what the fuck everyone is talking about. Sadly, this obsession has beset me at the very inconvenient time of "OMBFuck! End of the quarter overload of work!" season. So unless you are magically available and not needing to study like a crazy person who studies on the weekend right before exams (ie, the 10th and 11th, or hell, even monday the 12th) I'm afraid I shall have to suffer in my "I need more boyfriends!" (which, as you know, is nowhere near as slutty as it sounds) torment til next quarter.
WHICH IS SO SAD! /o\ <-(inverted paul gross arms for the opposite of yay)

AHAHAHAHAHA *malevolent laugh* Just as I had planned! You have been assimilated!
I actually might be free that weekend, because a bunch of my classes are choosing the "oh, don't worry, we'll have a paper due the last day of class" route of fuckitude. Ask me again in a week when I know which direction is up.
(Doesn't watching that vid just FILL you up with the RayK love? I'm really more of a Fraser girl myself, but sometimes the Ray Kowalski adoration just wells up inside me and I have to go watch vids and episodes until I expire of squee. His little kinetic gestures and his accent and OH RAY. Have you watched Zebra (http://www.intimations.org/vidding/)? It's one of the definitive RayK vids...)

I love both of them, but RayK's just so... *is inarticulate* He's the one who wears his heart on his sleeve, and I just have a soft spot for those guys.

It's 'eneimi in ten polin, apokteinoun tous anthropous', or 'I'm in ur city, killin' ur d00dz'. [Well, 'the', not 'ur', but same idea.] Possibly I should be tired of that whole joke concept by now, but... nah.
