So hello, I realize that it is not as if I am a posting machine, unless that machine is broken, and yet I am still thinking it would be a good idea to tell y'all that I will be mostly offline for the next two weeks. Because I am going to ENGLAND! YAY.

I have always wanted to go to England. I love dismal gray rainy weather (and actually, this is not even sarcasm, it is just me being a freak). Also, I'm going with my parents, which might end up being kind of nice; we travel well together, and they're pretty cool in general. We're going to start by staying in London for six days or so, and then take a train to Oxford, where we can check out the pub Tolkein and CS Lewis and their gang used to frequent. After renting a car in Oxford, we will then drive to Avebury, where we will be exploring various exciting neolithic sites. Then on to Wales, where we will see castles and Welsh people, and I will geek out over linguistics, and then back down to Bath, for the Roman ruins, and eventually end up back in London.

What? Did you just say this is the geekiest vacation of all time? I'm sorry, I didn't hear you, I was busy marking passages in Tom Shippey's biography of Tolkein so I can find the places in Oxford that inspired bits of the Lord of the Rings.
