I am running around randomly adding people for the purposes of Needing Bandom Because It Cheers Me Up. On the first page of your LJ I have either laughed out loud or flailed with joy about seventeen times. I hope you don't mind me looking in from afar. :)

OTP Conversations Bring
You just made me examine that I like unequal relationship dynamics. I love PETE/Patrick, PETE/Ryan, and RYAN/Brendon. I just read a PETE/Nate that made me whimper. The dynamics are right there on the surface and I lapped them up! My Primary OTP is Travis/Bill. They are equals. (If you have ever sat through my yube vid in my docked entry you'd know my pathetic fangirly ways.) However, I'm just as intrigued now that both of them have backed away from each other and I perceive that it was more a Travis decision than anything (even if it was ultimately mutual.) My other equal relationship is Jon/Spencer. I JUST got into this one TBH. Spencer just got so hot all of a sudden for me. Oh I'm also a big fan of Frank/Gerard and they seem equal with maybe a skosh more of skew toward Frankie.

I see Ryan as bi or pansexual/ opportunistic and Brendon as gay. I think Ryan was Brendon's first and that leads him to be completely SHOT OUT over Ryan. I think Ryan is in awe of Brendon's musical acuity and Brendon is in awe of Ryan's intellect, vision, and drive. I think they both just 'get' each other and the fact that Ryan's BFF is Spencer but they don't even seem as close as Ryan and Brendon really lends an air of romance to their relationship. It was sudden and powerful. They share hotel rooms. They whisper quietly to each other. They share looks with each other all the time. Brendon has acted as Ryan's Patrick, exorcising his demons by singing them. Fighting with him over presentation, etc. I don't really wear a tinhat for them because the stage gay wouldn't exist if they were really fucking (in the ongoing sense) but I can TOTALLY believe that there is some unrequited feelings on Brendon's side directed at Ryan. Re the unequal dynamics: P! is Ryan's brain child. He pretty much calls the final shots and is very very invested in the overall flow of the band. I think that both Spencer and Jon are strong enough personalities that they will follow Ryan most of the time but little things like matching flip flops and the complete rejection of the Brokeback attire for their new look are ways in which they assert themselves. Brendon, I feel will be the one most likely to follow Ryan down any given path. I've also noticed that Jon has become more confident in answering questions about the band, the sound and everything now that he's a part of the creative process but still at the end of the day, all the boys defer to Ryan on the big stuff. I also agree with you about how B/R is written. It becomes tedious and samey and since I see Ryan as clearly dominant it can be hard for me. But still I love them and with new writers coming in the fandom all the time my dominant Ryan needs are being met without having to turn a blind eye to the awesome things veteran writers are turning out even if I have to skip all the sex parts

I'm sorry for going a little crazy with my response. I could say even more about this pairing and even more than that about Treckett but I'll spare you. lol

I'll look into some Brendon/Spencer though... :o)
