Sometimes I frankly scare the shit out of myself with the messes I narrowly avoid making. Some background on the current freak-out:
1. I had a Modern European History test today. 8:00 AM.
2. As of last night, I had done absolutely none of the reading.
2b. I mean, probably 100 pages of dense reading, and I had done zilch.
3. This test was to cover: the rise of communism in Russia pre-WWI; the entire history of the USSR from 1917 to 1945; the interwar period; the Great Depression; the rise of fascism in Italy, Germany, and Spain; the lead-up to WWII; and all of WWII itself. We're talking about a Big Damn Test here.
4. I never, ever wake up on my own. Ever.
5. I fell asleep yesterday afternoon at about 4 PM.
Yet! By some incredible stroke of luck, I actually woke up randomly at 2:40 this morning. "Hmm," I thought. "I should really study for Euro."
And then I fell back to sleep.
After which I had a whole long elaborate dream in which I woke up with my alarm, went to school, had to plead with the teacher to let me postpone the test, failed the course and had a huge fight with my parents. Which is pretty much exactly what would have happened, EXCEPT:
I miraculously woke up again at 4:21 AM. This time, I went and took my ADD meds before I could go back to sleep, and by the time I had to go to school, I'd done all the reading, and was prepared for the test.
Act of God. For reals, guys. I think I just found religion.
